The security guard was on-duty outside the J/F Hookah Lounge on the 2400 block of Germantown Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. when he spotted a gunman open fire on a man and woman, according to police.
The first was reported Tuesday along along the 400 block of Tomlinson Road. At 3:15 p.m. students reported being approached by a man in a vehicle while leaving school. They said the man offered them money to get into the car, but they ran away.
The spa, along the 1800 block of Ranstead Street, was shut down following the raid.
The UPS truck stopped in the intersection of 8th and Market streets.
The truck was going westbound on Walnut Street at 8th Street when it struck the 91-year-old woman, Philadelphia Police said.
The train struck the 42-year-old man on the tracks near Comly and Keystone streets in the shadow of Interstate 95 in the Tacony neighborhood around 8 a.m., Philadelphia Police said.
“It’s pretty nasty,” one woman told NBC10. “The swarms that went from Frankford and Thompson to near my house at Memphis and Montgomery Ave. We were covered in them from head to toe. Yuck.”

Officials found the victim shortly before 12:30 a.m. on the 2200 block of North 12th Street, suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Temple Hospital in stable condition and underwent surgery, according to police.
Police received a call of multiple gunshots coming from 12th Street and Susquehanna Avenue. They saw a person driving a car backwards at a high speed, fleeing the scene. Police stopped the car and took the driver in for questioning, they said.
