Byko: Want a piece of me?

You also can send a check in any amount to Byko's Safe Bike Ride, c/o People's Emergency Center, 325 N. 39th St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19104. Write "Bike Ride" in the memo field.

Byko: Want a piece of me?
FOR THE CHARITY event, I was going to liken myself to the best-known American bicyclist ever. Unhappily, that's doper Lance Armstrong, not the kind of person I want to be associated with. That's how some bicyclists feel about me. Mostly just those who ignore the rules of the road, plus some who are afraid to ride without bicycle lanes.

Indego gets 24 new stations, 300 new bikes and more for first birthday
Eventually, the program will expand to 185 stations, said Cara Ferrentino, Indego program manager at OTIS. To attract enough riders, stations need to be located fairly close to one another and in dense neighborhoods. Those limitations make more rapid and ranging network expansions-to the lower Southwest, or Bustleton, or East Falls, say-impractical.

There's a heavy emphasis on neighborhoods north and west of Center City in the new round of stations. Eight of them will be in a swath of the city bounded by Fairmount and Pennsylvania Avenues to the south, 33rd and Dauphin to the northwest and 22nd Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue to the east.

The existing station at 18th and Fernon remains the southernmost station. But as Indego plans to take its total number of stations to over 100, there are designs to head toward the hot restaurants on East Passyunk Avenue, the stadiums at the Sports Complex and, eventually, the Navy Yard.
