    It's the first day of astronomical summer, the temperature is heating up and, just in time, Philadelphia's public pools are about to open. The city's 70 free public pools - the most per-capita of any city in the country - start to open on Wednesday. All of the pools will open by July 1.

The ATV driver, who was not identified, lost control about 8:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Lancaster Avenue in the Powelton section, police said. He was taken to a nearby hospital with "severe head trauma" and listed in critical condition.
